Poster presentations convey innovative, clinically relevant information that enhances the professional skills of dermatology healthcare professionals treating patients with skin of color. The Skin of Color Update Virtual poster session provides presenting authors a forum in which they can showcase their work and interact with with the skin of color dermatology community. You are invited to submit poster abstracts for all relevant topics related to skin of color focused dermatology. Check out the 2019 posters.


Your poster and abstract will be presented on the special Virtual Poster Session page of the SkinOfColorUpdate.com webpage. Click here to see a sample from 2019. We will present your abstract, link to a PDF of your full poster, link to contact the author and opportunity to leave comments.  All materials accepted for the Virtual Poster Session will be available online beginning September 12, 2020 and will live indefinitely on the Skin of Color Update Virtual 2020 website.

Skin of Color Update Virtual 2020 will accept poster/abstract on current and emerging issues in the dermatologic treatment of persons with skin types III-VI including:

  • Unusual Cases of All Kinds

We will accept original research and encore abstracts/posters previously presented at other forums from analysts, consultants, dermatology Residents, healthcare providers, industry, practicing dermatologists, and researchers.

REVIEW PROCESS

Submitting parties receive automatic notification that the poster submission has been received. However, due to the high volume of submissions, additional acknowledgement may not be sent unless the poster is accepted by the review committee.

Abstract submissions are reviewed by a committee comprised of healthcare professionals serving on the Skin of Color Update Virtual 2020 and Journal of Drugs in Dermatology advisory boards. Conference managers also review all abstracts. Content is evaluated based on the quality and relevance of topic, educational value, timeliness, and clearly identified objectives. SOC Update Virtual reserves the right to make final decisions regarding acceptance of abstracts for poster presentation sessions.

CONFERENCE FEES

In order to display your poster at the virtual meeting, one author or representative is required to register for Skin of Color Update Virtual 2020. To view registration pricing and to register for the virtual event, click here.

POSTER PRESENTATION

Poster PDFs and abstracts will be displayed virtually on the conference website. The following documents must be received in order for your poster to be included in the virtual experience:

  • PDF of poster abstract
  • JPEG or PDF of poster image. Document orientation can be landscape or portrait and should be easily read from a computer and mobile device
  • Posters may include graphs, tables, QR codes and charts
  • Poster presenters may, but are NOT required to, include their contact information to be displayed with their poster should attendees wish to reach out with questions or discussion about the poster

We understand the final poster JPEG or PDF may not be ready at the time of your poster submission. Should you need to upload this at a later date, you will be given instructions on submitting the document upon acceptance of your abstract.

If poster is selected, authors agree to:

  • Display information in an objective manner without bias to a particular company, program, or product.
  • Information submitted, including abstract, poster PDF, contact information and author biographies, may be used for electronic presentations, blog posts, other conference materials and enduring activities

What is the poster deadline?
Poster submission deadline: July 20, 2020

What should I do if my poster PDF or JPEG is not finalized when submitting the abstract submission form?
We understand the final poster JPEG or PDF may not be ready at the time of your poster submission. Should you need to upload this at a later date, you will be given instructions on submitting the document upon acceptance of your abstract.

There is only room in the form for 2 authors, can I submit an abstract with more authors than that?
We do not have a limit on the number of authors a poster can have. If you have more than 2 authors you can add their information in either the section for author biographies or additional information fields.

How big should my poster be?
Poster should be in landscape or portrait orientation and easily read from a computer or mobile device. Posters may include graphs, tables, QR codes and charts.

Does my poster need to be relevant to skin of color focused dermatology?
Yes! Following the core concepts of the meeting, we only accept submissions that pertain to skin of color focused dermatology.

How many posters can I display?
Non-industry representatives may submit as many abstracts as they would like. Company and industry representatives should contact Jade Richmond at [email protected] prior to submitting abstracts to discuss requirements.

When will I be notified if my poster is accepted?
Poster acceptances will be sent via email at the beginning of August. If you do not receive a response please email [email protected]

Do I need to register for the virtual conference?
Yes — You must have one representative registered for the virtual conference in order to display your poster. Registration information can be found here.

Do you accept repeat/encore posters?
Yes. These posters should represent findings that have been presented at other meetings but still contain information of interest to healthcare practitioners.

What is the review process?
